R2: 2 dc in each st around (18)

R3: *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* around (27)

R4: dc around (27)

R5: 3 dc in next st, *skip a st, 3 dc in next st* around

R6-11: skip a st, 3 dc in next st around (you can change colour here)

R12: skip a st, hdc around

Fasten off

If you find the pattern is too small (I used a bamboo yarn that stretches a lot) you can add this between R3 and R4 -> *2 dc in next, one dc in next 2 sts* around

Attach pom pom, ears and mouth to your preference.

Add black buttons for eyes using black thread.

For strings: using 12 long pieces of yarn, fold them in half, put the loop through the bottom of the ear flap, and pull the yarn through the loop. Braid.

I decided to make this hat because I seriously had nothing better to do. I’d watched every episode of Supernatural—three times—and I couldn’t concentrate on reading or writing or drawing, so I grabbed my notebook full of To-Make-Sketches, and just decided I wanted to make a cat that sits on my head. I had wanted to make the legs really long so that they hung down, but that didn’t work out, obviously . . .

Stuff the extremities. For me, I put lots of stuffing in the head, tail and back legs, but only put a little in the front legs so they didn’t hang weirdly. ^-^ Sew on where you feel they look best, and voila! You have a cat on your hat. :D
