Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen Inspired Girl On Fire Beanie

Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen inspired Girl On Fire Beanie

(also, I apologize in advance for the horrific pictures of me; it was a stay-in-bed-until-noon kind of day)

REVISED *JULY 2013*

Inspired by Cinna’s many designs (I hope he’d be impressed)

6.00 and 5.50 hooks
Sensations Angel Hair yarn (I think the colour is called Berry?)
This is more of a colour/yarn-specific pattern, so I highly recommend using the exact yarn

Using 6.00mm hook
Magic circle
1: ch 3, dc 11 in circle (12)
2: 2 dc in each st around (24)
3: *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around
4: *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st* around
5: *dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st* around (you’ll find that there won’t be enough stitches for the last few sts, so dc in next 2 sts, then 2 dc in next st)
6 -10: dc around
Switch to 5.50mm hook
11-14: *fphdc in next st, bphdc in next st* around
To fasten off, skip a st and then slst

And there you have it!

(Not gonna lie, I’m really tempted to use it for part of a Katniss/Peeta Victory Tour cosplay and take pictures, except for the obvious fact that I’d need a Peeta . . .)

2: ch 2, dc2tog, dc 8, dc2tog, dc

6: ch 2, dc2tog twice, dc
7: ch 2, dc2tog, dc
With red yarn, sc around edges of hat

Mouth
1: ch 15
2: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across
3: sc in same st, sc across (sc twice in last st)
4: With white yarn, sc around twice, putting 2 sc in each of the "corner" stitches
Leave a long tail for sewing.

Here's a tutorial on how to make the pom pom: http://www.kid-craft-central.com/pom-poms.html

Attach pom pom, ears and mouth to your preference.

Add black buttons for eyes using black thread.

For strings: using 12 long pieces of yarn, fold them in half, put the loop through the bottom of the ear flap, and pull the yarn through the loop. Braid.

Cat Corpse Hat

Cat Corpse Hat
Courtney Wiche

I decided to make this hat because I seriously had nothing better to do. I’d watched every episode of Supernatural—three times—and I couldn’t concentrate on reading or writing or drawing, so I grabbed my notebook full of To-Make-Sketches, and just decided I wanted to make a cat that sits on my head. I had wanted to make the legs really long so that they hung down, but that didn’t work out, obviously . . .

Body/Hat:
Magic circle
R1: Ch 2. 6 hdc (6)
R2: 2 hdc in each stitch (12)
R3: 1 hdc in next st, 2 HDC in the next (18)
R4: 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in the next (24)
R5: 1 hdc in the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in the next (30)
R6: 1 hdc in the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in the next (36)
R7: 1 hdc in the next 5 sts, 2 hdc in the next (42)
R8: 1 hdc in the next 6 sts, 2 hdc in the next (48)
R9: 1 hdc in the next 7sts, 2 hdc in the next (54)
R10-23: hdc across (54)
            Fasten off
NOTE: You can make it shorter or longer just by taking away or adding more rows

Head:
Ch 16
R1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc to end (15)
R2-9: ch 1, sc to end (15)
R10: sc2tog at each end of row, sc across (13)
R11: sc2tog at each end of row, sc across (11)
R12: sc2tog at each end of row, sc across (9)
R13: sc2tog at each end of row, sc across (7)
R14: sc 2 in first stitch, sc to end of row, sc 2 in last st (9)
R15: sc 2 in first stitch, sc to end of row, sc 2 in last st (11)
R16: sc 2 in first stitch, sc to end of row, sc 2 in last st (13)
R17: sc 2 in first stitch, sc to end of row, sc 2 in last st (15)
R18-26: ch 1, sc to end (15)
                Fasten off

Front Legs (Make 2):
Magic circle
R1: ch 2. 6 hdc (DO NOT JOIN)
R2: 2 hdc in each (12)
R3: 1 hdc, 2 hdc in each (18)
R4: *4 hdc, hdc2tog in next two stitches* (15)
R5: hdc around (15)
R6: *3 hdc, hdc2tog in next two stitches* (12)
R7-18: hdc around (12)
                Fasten off

Back Legs (Make 2):
Magic circle
R1: ch 2. 6 hdc (6)
R2: 2 hdc in each (12)
R3: 1 hdc, 2 hdc in each (18)
R4: hdc around (18)
R5: 4 hdc, hdc2tog in next two stitches (15)
R6: hdc around (15)
R7: hdc 1, sc 3, hdc 6, dc 1, tc 3, dc 1
R8: 3 hdc, hdc2tog in next two stitches (12)
R9-20: hdc  around (12)
                Fasten off

Tail:
Magic circle
R1: 6 hdc (6)
R2: 2 hdc in each st (12)
R3-8: hdc around (12)
R9: 1 hdc, 4 sc, 2 hdc, 4 dc, 1 hdc
R10-25: hdc around

Stuff the extremities. For me, I put lots of stuffing in the head, tail and back legs, but only put a little in the front legs so they didn’t hang weirdly. ^-^ Sew on where you feel they look best, and voila! You have a cat on your hat. :D

Little Mermaid Costume - Updated

It's finally here. An updated version of my little mermaid costume (with proper math this time). Unfortunately, no adorable baby...
