Cat Corpse Hat

I decided to make this hat because I seriously had nothing better to do. I’d watched every episode of Supernatural—three times—and I couldn’t concentrate on reading or writing or drawing, so I grabbed my notebook full of To-Make-Sketches, and just decided I wanted to make a cat that sits on my head. I had wanted to make the legs really long so that they hung down, but that didn’t work out, obviously . . .
Body/Hat:

Stuff the extremities. For me, I put lots of stuffing in the head, tail and back legs, but only put a little in the front legs so they didn’t hang weirdly. ^-^ Sew on where you feel they look best, and voila! You have a cat on your hat. :D
what size crochet hook did you use?

ReplyDeleteIf you chance up the ears a little it could be a dog too, put the head a little lower it could be a turtle. So many ideas come from this hat, I'm excited about it
It's so true! I didn't even notice. . . I might have to make a turtle one for my best friend now . . .

Wanted to thank you very much for this pattern, you have no idea how planned your boring day with nothing to do was in reality. The Monday before Christmas my daughter had to have emergency brain surgery to have a tennis ball size tumor removed, she is doing great. In any case, the only hat she could think of to wear on her newly bald head was your cat corps hat. She will be returning to school on Monday, Jan. 17 and of course this is the hat she wants to wear on her pretty 16 year old head. So when you thought this was something you created out of boredom I say it was planted into your head to make a young lady very happy. Thank you for the happiness your pattern is giving my daughter.
ReplyDeleteReally? My feelings are going haywire right now; I honestly feel like a giddy fangirl! I'm sorry that your daughter had to go through surgery-I cracked my skull when I was five, and I know going through that was terrifying, so give her a hug for me. :) Actually, just give her a million hugs from me! I honestly wasn't aware how many people liked this pattern . . . It was my first ever pattern that I made by myself, so I'm happy with the way it's gone over. And thank you taking the time to make it! And thank you to your daughter for actually wearing it. ;D I know a lot of people *coughmymomcough* who think it's ridiculous and are exasperated that I even wear it out in public. Your daughter should be proud!
DeleteI saw your hat and had to (tee-hee) take exception to your corpse name, since I have kitties and a vivid imagination. I decided your hat is a FASCINATOR and will call it that if I wear it, being the mature adult that I am. I also thought how easy it would be to turn this into pretty much any animal on the planet, and was thinkig of making a bunny butt, complete with fluffy tail, and feet sticking up. I think it would look fabulous on my 50+ brother for his birthday! So, THANK YOU for your psttern and how you have awakened my own creativity!Katie
ReplyDeleteIn looking for a pattern of a kitty hat, I came upon your pattern. I absolutely love it! A co-worker asked me if I could make her daughter a Kirby hat for Christmas and this pattern, I think will be perfect. What kind of yarn did you use?

DeleteI used Red Heart Super Saver Fleck yarn for this. I can't remember the exact colour but I think there's only a few different ones. I hope this helps you! :)
